Yesterday was Mother’s Day, a time for honoring mothers (and maternal figures) for all that they have done and still do for us: bandaging boo-boos, making our favorite dessert, holding us when we are sad, etc.
So, today, I’d like to introduce my mom (Ms. Jean) to you and give her a “shout out” for all that she does for me every day. My husband and I have lived with my mother for 10+ years and we have a terrific relationship.

Mom in December 2019
Mom’s favorite thing to do is play in the dirt. She loves flowers. She particularly likes to buy flowers from the Lowe’s Sale Rack (she calls these the 1/2 dead flowers) and bring them back to life by giving them fresh dirt, plant food, sunshine, etc. She loves a garden and is so excited about some raised beds we’ve got this year.
For as long as I can remember, my mom has made the absolute best muffins for me. The key ingredient is All-Bran cereal and they are absolutely delicious. All-Bran Muffins, chicken casserole, and squash casserole are my favorite foods that she makes.
I love the relationship my mother and husband have. Mom had girls so she never had a son, but she treats my husband as good (ok, sometimes better) as she treats me. They pick on one another, have their “talk time” before I get home from work, and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. The three of us together make a crazy, but unique, trio.

What does (or did) your Mom like to do? What were her hobbies? What are your special memories? If you didn’t get a chance to share anything about your mother (or a maternal figure) yesterday, I encourage you to do so today: feel free to share in the comment section below, post on social media, etc.
