March is starting with a bang! Entered #PB Party and now I’m excited to announce that I’ve entered Vivian Kirkfield’s 50 Precious Words writing contest. Writing tight is tough. Writing a story with a beginning, middle and end in 50 words or less is a true challenge. If you visit the entry page and go to the comments you’ll be amazed at some of the darling stories that are there. Hundreds of authors and aspiring authors are doing a fantastic job. The competition is tough, but so inspiring!
Here is the story that I wrote for this year’s entry. The first draft was 67 words, followed by 62. Then I cute it down to 52 words on two different versions. In the end, this is my 50 word version. I hope you like it.
The Fire Brigade
Fire!
Go, go!
Four brave fire trucks
In a row.
Hurry!
Quick, quick!
Throw the ladders,
Raise the stick.
Woof!
Mew, mew!
Save the doggy,
kitty, too.
Faster!
Spray, spray!
Take that nasty
fire away.
Done!
Pack, pack!
Dirty tools must
Go right back.
Shhhh!
Rest tired firefighters.
Good night!
