You Make My Heart Go Beep! Beep! Beep!

The American Red Cross has a new slogan just in time for Valentine’s Day week!

Show the ones you love just how much you value their safety by checking their smoke alarms, changing batteries if needed, and making sure they have alarms installed on every level of their home and in all sleeping areas.

Smoke alarms, on average, last 7-10 years. Don’t forget to check the date, too.

Need assistance with smoke alarms in the home? Thanks to a great partnership with the American Red Cross (ARC), many fire departments have complimemtary smoke alarms to install for those who can’t afford them or have no means of installing them. Contact your local fire department or ARC to find out more information.

Have small children that need to understand the importance of these safety devices? If so, visit Sparky the Fire Dog at Sparky.org to find lessons, activities and other resources. Below are two handouts that I’m using with preschoolers through this week.

Smoke alarms work day and night to protect you and your loved ones. Honor your family this week with working safety devices!

Questions or comments? Please let me know how I can help!

Happy Valentine’s Day week everyone!
